Darth Vader and the entire Empire seek retribution for their defeat involving the first death star, which was the only time the Empire had suffered being vanquished in its history. Darth Vader locates the Rebel Alliance hiding on the planet of Hoth. The Rebels flee to safety. Han Solo and Princess Leia escape to the safety of the Cloud City at Bespin while Luke Skywalker searches for the mysterious Jedi Master named Yoda.

Boba Fett tracks the heroes to Cloud City and the Empire captures our heroes at Bespin. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker is introduced to Yoda, who begins to instruct Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Force. However, Luke Skywalker senses a disturbance in the Force and realizes his friends are in dire trouble.

Luke Skywalker arrives at Cloud City and enters the trap set by the diabolical Sith Lords. A light saber duel erupts between Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader and ends with Luke Skywalker learning the final truth, which Luke Skywalker refuses to accept even as it is the true reality.

Through the will of the Force, Luke Skywalker eludes Darth Vader and is rescued by Lando Calrissian in the Millennium Falcon. Star Wars 5 ends with the heroes seeking to rescue Han Solo being frozen in carbonite at Jabba the Hutt's Palace.
